Life Is Beautiful... I truly do not believe that there has ever been a movie as beautiful as this one. A story of a passionate man whose love for his wife and son has no end. Set in the time of the Holocaust, the Italian, Guido, runs into or rather catches his wife, Dora. Guido is a silly man who always wears a smile. Set in Italy, the movie continue to show Guido taking Dora away. Jump ahead a few years, the couple has an adorable son, Giosue. The small family lives modestly with their love and affection filling each and every room. In one scene it shows Guido and Giosue walking and Giosue notices a sign outside a shop that states no Jews or dogs are allowed into the store. What stood out the most was Guido's reaction when his son asked why the owner would say that. Rather than being bitter and hostile, Guido is upbeat and positive. He simply lets his son know that some people just choose not the let certain people into their stores. He then asks his son if there's anyo...

A Change of Pace...

It has been a while... I pretty much forgot that I created this blog almost three years ago. Many things have changed in my life. The fiance I lovingly refereed to is now my husband, and we have a beautiful baby boy. I am no longer teaching (at the moment). Instead, I am raising our son, Sal who is without a doubt the most beautiful baby I have ever seen. Yes, I know, I am biased. I originally started this blog as a place to review movies, literature, and music, so I am hoping to get to do that with any spare time (haha) that I have. Movies: Gifted I really enjoyed this movie. The basis is that of a relationship between a brilliant young girl and her uncle and the absent grandmother who returns to the picture and potentially sets out to separate the pair. The young girl is a genius and basically a mathematician at the age of eight. Her uncle, Frank, has a mysterious edge to him and definitely comes across as slightly damaged. This makes the viewer immediately like him an...

My Own Bookshop

BOOKS EVERYWHERE! I always said that if I could do anything it would be to own a book shop. It would look like a cottage with a twinkling bell when you open the door and a creaky floor as you browse the endless shelves of books. My bookshop would entice all of the senses. The smells would be a mixture of paper, binding, coffee, and love. Yes, you read that correctly, LOVE. I remember when my fiancé and I visited Seattle, WA (my favorite place on the planet) back in August of 2013 I felt like I stepped into Heaven because there were books shops and coffee shops everywhere you looked. It's a place where 90s grunge, books, and coffee all mesh together like the best kind of recipe out there.

Words Words Words...So Sweet and Beautiful

Hello out there...if anyone is reading... I will be using this space to document my thoughts on literature, movies, and (occasionally) songs. I am a bibliophile through and through (just ask my fiancé) and the thought of a library or bookstore makes me smile on the inside and beam on the outside. I have a background in English Writing (at least that's what my degree says) AND I am currently a teacher. I teach 4th & 5th grade ELA and Social Studies, and with this a LOVE of READING! However, I don't plan on using this blog for teaching. This is simply my own little escape and way of getting lost in something that doesn't involve bills, headaches, or other mundane necessities that cloud everyday life. Well...here we go! :) -Amanda
